Book Culture, Palaeography and Palimpsests

The research focus „book culture“ is based upon the works of the Viennese School of palaeography and codicology, with the world-wide largest photographic collection of Byzantine scribal hands.

In addition to research on scribes and centers of book production, complemented by aspects of script, reader relevance and book sociology, the working group focuses on the following topics:
