Mahler online serves as the central platform for digital Mahler research, making Gustav Mahler’s compositional oeuvre accessible through digital editions and comprehensive source documentation. In its current development stage, the platform presents detailed source descriptions, work data, and performance information for Symphonies Nos. 2, 3, 5, and 6 (GMW 30, 31, 44, and 46); additional works are being added continuously.
The platform is developed in cooperation between the International Gustav Mahler Society and the University of Innsbruck. It provides access to digitized autographs, printed editions, conducting scores, and correspondence, and offers extensive indexes of persons and corporate bodies with cross-references to corresponding work records. Source documentation, editorial preparation, and scholarly commentary are integrated throughout. All data are created according to the Music Encoding Initiative (MEI) standard. Furthermore, Mahler online offers insights into Mahler's work as composer and conductor, documents the reception and performance history of his works, and provides information about current research findings as well as Mahler research at the Austrian Academy of Sciences.
