In recent years, the European research landscape has been substantially shaped by the establishment of European Research Infrastructure Consortia (ERICs), i.e., permanent international entities that bring together and represent communities of various academic disciplines. They coordinate national developments, provide central technical services and offer a stable forum for exchange of knowledge and experience between the scholars and practitioners beyond national boundaries.

Our work is strongly interwoven with these initiatives, most notably CLARIN-ERIC (Common Language Resources and Technology Infrastructure), DARIAH-EU (Digital Research Infrastructure for the Arts and Humanities), and their counterpart on the national level, the national consortium CLARIAH-AT. More recently, these ERICs have joined forces under the umbrella of EOSC initiative (European Open Science Cloud), an endeavour “to develop a ‘Web of FAIR Data and Services’ for science in Europe”.

Through our involvement in ERICs, we have participated in multiple large-scale projects (like PARTHENOS, elexis, SSHOC, CLS INFRA, and ATRIUM), where – among other things – we have contributed to the technical infrastructure, created open educational resources, offered training, and hosted researchers.
