In the year 1905, Arthur Schnitzler compiled a typescript that listed all the authors and works he had read up to that point. He continued to maintain this reading list in handwritten form until 1928, shortly before his death. It was created as a memory aid and was not aimed at being comprehensive. It represents a quantitatively and qualitatively significant addition to the reading records noted in his diary, overlapping with them in only about a third of the works.

The printed edition was published in 2013 in the series „Akten des Arthur Schnitzler-Archivs Freiburg“ and is available from Ergon (Nomos). It is now being made digitally available for the first time here.
