Efficient data management is an essential prerequisite for the successful implementation of data-driven projects and ensures the long-term availability of the resulting data. Committed to the FAIR data principles, and guided by the ACDH data policy, we provide researchers with the necessary support and tools, notably offering advice on creating data management plans (DMP), which are also increasingly required by funding bodies, covering topics like data handling, file formats, metadata, storage, and long-term preservation.

For long-term preservation of digital humanities research data, we provide the digital archive ARCHE – A Resource Centre for the HumanitiEs. ARCHE is a curated repository certified with the Core Trust Seal. To deposit the data in ARCHE, the depositor follows the deposition process, which starts with contacting the ARCHE team, ideally already before the data/metadata collection starts. This way we can ensure that the data and metadata fulfill the formal criteria of ARCHE since the beginning, which makes the final archiving more seamless. To ensure consistency and accuracy in metadata collection and retrieval, we provide a suite of services to curate and publish SKOS compliant controlled vocabularies.

If you are interested in using any of our services or are seeking guidance about data management, please contact ACDH Helpdesk.
