Within the project Corpus Austrian Dialect Recordings in the 20th century, the ACDH's research unit Linguistics cooperates with the Phonogrammarchiv of the OeAW.

The project is dedicated to a unique collection of approximately 2450 recordings of Austrian dialects that were compiled from the 1950s to the 1980s by one of the ACDH's predecessor institutions in cooperation with the Phonogrammarchiv. The value of this corpus goes beyond linguistic interest, which is reflected by the fact that it was included into the UNESCO’s “Memory of Austria” register in 2018. The cooperation project itself first of all focuses on the contextualization of the corpus in the history of sciences, its digitalization and metadata enrichment. These steps are indispensable prerequisites for the analysis of the data.
