The project Vienna – different and multi.lingual is being conducted at the research unit Linguistics of the ACDH.

The project’s goal is to make mundane multilingualism in Vienna visible by collection information on language competencies, language usage and language attitudes from people living and working in Vienna via a sociolinguistic online questionnaire. It aims at closing a research gap by explicitly targeting members of the so-called “new” linguistic minorities in Austria, i.e., first generation migrants and their descendants. For and in doing so, the project additionally explores various acquisition strategies for sociolinguistic surveys amongst multilingual and minoritized groups.
