The PFP – Prosopographical Research Platform Austria serves as an umbrella project for person-based research at the Austrian Academy of Sciences (OeAW) using methods of Digital Humanities. In this platform, data from individual prosopographical projects such as PIO, MINE, PMB, VieCPro, ManMAX, various digital editions and the Austrian Biographical Dictionary are integrated. This is achieved through the use of Semantic Web technologies, Linked Open Data (Wikidata, Integrated Authority File, GeoNames, etc.), and Artificial Intelligence (AI). By employing these innovative technologies, the PFP will serve as a central hub for relevant Digital Humanities projects at the OeAW in the future.
Several OeAW institutes are involved in the implementation, in addition to the ACDH, the Institute for Habsburg and Balkan Studies (IHB) and the Institute for Medieval Studies (IMAFO). The ACDH is responsible for the technical implementation and curation of the merged data.
Daniela Angetter, Eva Offenthaler, Irene Nawrocka, Hubert Bergmann, Philipp Dittinger and Roland Feigl are working on the editorial part of the project. Christine Gruber, former editor-in-chief of ÖBL, is assisting the team as a guest researcher. The platform is technically realised by Birger Schacht.
