The corpus of the three monolingual German-acquiring Viennese children Katharina, Jan and Lena (born from 1992 to 1998) was collected and transcribed within two FWF projects lead by Wolfgang U. Dressler (P13681: Inflection systems and first language acquisition, P17276: Noun development in a cross-linguistic perspective). The children were audio-recorded in regular intervals (usually once a week to once a month, 98 hours in total) mainly in spontaneous interaction with their mothers (and sometimes also with other family members). The data comprise the following age ranges (in years; months): Katharina (1;6 – 3;0), Jan (1;3 – 6;0), Lena (1;7 – 3;0). The corpus consists of 212 transcripts of mostly 30-minute recordings containing about 446.000 running words that were transcribed in CHAT format using the CLAN program package of CHILDES and tagged for parts of speech (PoS), inflectional morphology and selected categories of word formation (e.g., diminutives, compounds). The transcripts also serve as a basis for crosslinguistic analyses in the context of the Crosslinguistic Project on Pre- and Protomorphology.
