The language corpus created as part of the Special Research Area (SFB) German in Austria (DiÖ), Variation - Contact - Perception (FWF F60) comprises more than 1000 hours of spoken language on the variation of the German language in Austria. To create the corpus, more than 850 informants (from different age and occupational groups) from all language areas in Austria were recorded in various settings (mainly interviews, conversations between friends, language production experiments, reading and translation tasks, reading aloud tasks). The majority of the data is transcribed using standard orthography or GAT-II and automatically enriched with PoS tags.

The corpus is processed as a relational PostGreSQL database. The automatic annotation was carried out with SpaCy. All audio files are available as .ogg files.

The SFB is a joint project of project teams from the Universities of Vienna, Graz and Salzburg and the Austrian Academy of Sciences. Spokesperson of the SFB is Alexandra N. Lenz.
