Shahi provides data for the investigation of the Shahi kingdoms (c. 7th–10th centuries) which played a pivotal role in the history of Central, Inner, and South Asia. They contain primary source material such as artifacts, coins, inscriptions, and other archaeological evidence. These suggest that the Hindu-Buddhist culture survived through the end of the first millennium and gradually evolved towards an Islamic culture at the start of the second millennium.
OpenAtlas, a database software developed at the ACDH, is used as a backend for recording, processing, and structuring the research data. The web application based on OpenAtlas makes it possible to explore the information freely accessible online. In addition, mapping, a catalogue of finds, results of the study and an online publication of Shahi’s findings are presented.
