The Lexical Information System Austria (LIÖ) focuses on lexical variation in Austria, both past and present. LIÖ was developed as a cooperative project between the ACDH (Austrian Academy of Sciences) and the SFB German in Austria. Variation – Contact – Perception (University of Vienna), and is designed as an information and research platform for data on lexical variation in Austria. LIÖ currently provides access to information, data and results from three research projects:

• The Dictionary of Bavarian Dialects in Austria (WBÖ) comprises dialect materials and dictionary articles on the historical Bavarian dialects of Austria, South Tyrol and other language islands.
• The project Lexical Variation of Austrian Dialects in the 20th Century (LexVAD20) analyses, maps and makes accessible historical dialect data from the context of the “Deutscher Wortatlas” (German Word Atlas).
• The Atlas of Lexical Variation in Austria in the 21st Century (LexAT21) provides data and linguistic maps on the contemporary vocabulary of Austria.
