TABLE SONG & TURKISH MARCH
Description: A group of musicians from the village of Gŭrmen in Southwest Bulgaria perform two pieces typical of their folklore. The first one belongs to the genre of ballads (whose themes are generally heroic deeds, historical events or other stories) and owes its name to the tradition of being performed "at the table" when a group of people gather to eat together or other special occasions. The second composition is a march that presents clear influences of Turkish cultural influence on the community in the area that includes particular rhythmic patterns and often features tipical music instruments. The Turkish march is until today a popular dance melody in the western Rhodope mountain and parts of Pirin.

SÜLEYMAN AGHA & HUSO GORELSKI
Description: A group of Roma musicians from the village of Gŭrmen in Southwest Bulgaria perform local dance songs with zurna and tapan. The first melody is dedicated to a pasha, although it is unclear which of the numerous Süleyman Aghas it refers to. The dance is also known as Suleimanovo in other regions of Macedonia and can also be played in 9/8, while a slow 2/4 is preferred here. The second melody also refers to a real person, Us'o Gorelski. His descendants are supposed to live in the village of Gorno Kraishte, Belitsa district, and its neighborhoods to this day. Roma musicians typically perform that way (using zuna and daul).
