WE SPEAK ROMANIAN AND OFFICIATE IN SERBIAN

Description: In this video, Branko Milojević expresses his opinion about the current situation of the Timok Romanian language by analysing the causes of the loss of a language among the youngest generations descending from monolingual Romanian speakers of the Timok Valley (rom. Valea Timocului). We find out that the number of Romanian speakers is constantly decreasing due to a lack of teaching in schools and books editing as well as an absence of support on behalf of the Serbian state. In his opinion, encouraging the cultural right and the maintenance of religious practices could play, an important role in the preservation of the language and its passing on to younger generations.
