MELODIES OF THE SAVYRDYNG DANCE

Description: Döchä Jaltsana plays various melodies of the Oirat folk dance "Savyrdyng". "Savyrdyng" is the common name both for tovshuur melodies and the traditional dance of Oirat people in China. According to a legend, the word "savyrdyng" derived from a combination of the word "savar" (a paw; a hoof) and the sound of "ding-ding".

VARIOUS TECHNIQUES OF PLAYING TOVSHUUR

Description: Döchä Jaltsana demonstrates traditional techniques of playing the tovshuur, a two-string instrument common for all Mongolians. He shows how Khoshuud people used to play the tovshuur sitting on horseback. Döchä organized many lessons and work-shops and taught these playing techniques to more than 1000 people in China and Mongolia.
