… studied musicology and Romance studies in Osnabrück and Vienna and attained her doctorate in 2022 (Das barocke Festspiel als modernes Geamtkunstwerk. Die Opernästhetik von Egon Wellesz). She has been part of several research projects, e.g. Eduard Hanslick’s Vom Musikalisch-Schönen: Dynamic Features of the Text and Its Contexts (Austrian Academy of Sciences, 2018–2021, funded by the Austrian Science Fund FWF), and Telling Sounds (University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, 2021). Since 2017, she has been working for the Complete Edition of the Writings of Arnold Schönberg.
At the ACDH, Meike Wilfing-Albrecht is part of the Department of Musicology. She previously worked for the project Research Data on Austrian Music (DEMOS) and became project lead of the Vienna Research Group of the Johannes Brahms Complete Edition in September 2022. She also worked for the Austrian Encyclopedia of Music (oeml online) from 2020 to 2022, has resumed this position in 2025, and is currently leading the project The Copyist William Kupfer between Johannes Brahms and Guido Adler. Her research interests include music history of the 19th and 20th centuries (especially Viennese Modernism), history of science, and musical criticism. In 2024 she received the Albi Rosenthal Fellowship from the Bodleian Libraries, University of Oxford.
