Mehmet Emir was born in Hozat and completed the polytechnical school for people in employment in Vienna. He studied contextual painting at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna after working as photographer, journalist as well as youth and social worker. He has and still is taking part in numerous exhibitions and artistic projects and in 2016 has been awarded the "Ehrenmedaille der Bundeshauptstadt Wien" in silver.
