... is an Academy Scientist in the long-term project Language Dynamics in Austria (DynAT) in the research unit Linguistics. He leads the development of the platforms WBÖ-Online and the research tool CollectionCat. He is responsible for data management and the modelling of linguistic data. For this reason he works closely with both the linguistic and the technical team. Since 2025, he has also been responsible for project management of the FWF project LexVAD20, which uses AI-based methods to process historical dialect data for analyzation.
After his vocational education and his time at an IT department he began to study German and history at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich (LMU). During a short stay at the University of Vienna in 2011 he decided to pursue a doctorate in linguistics. In this time he worked for the LMU Center for Digital Humanities Munich and a cross-linguistic project for the study of lexis in the Alpine region (VerbaAlpina). After working as a university assistant in 2021 at the University of Vienna he joined the ACDH (then called ACDH-CH) in March 2022.
In his doctoral thesis he investigated the interplay between dialect and standard language on the German-Austrian border near Salzburg. His main areas of interest are variational linguistics, geolinguistics, and phonetics/phonology. He is also enthusiastic about the use of digital methods in linguistics.
