... received his BSc in Computer Science from the University of Applied Sciences Technikum Wien and his BA in History from the University of Vienna. Joining the Austrian Academy of Sciences in 2015, he works as a core developer and research data specialist at the Austrian Centre for Digital Humanities. Additionally, he serves as a software developer for the Prehistoric Department at the Natural History Museum Vienna (NHM). His expertise spans medieval history (with a focus on Eastern Europe), historical geography, GIS, API design, and Python-based backend infrastructure.

Within the ACDH research unit DH Research & Infrastructure, Bernhard Koschiček-Krombholz is a member of the Cultural Heritage Artifacts and Context group.

At both institutions, his work centers on OpenAtlas, an open-source database application tailored for acquiring, modeling, and managing research data. He is a strong advocate for FAIR principles and semantic web interoperability, specialized in mapping complex cultural heritage data to the CIDOC CRM standard. In his role, he is primarily responsible for API architecture, core software development, and the deployment and hosting infrastructure of OpenAtlas instances.
