Hans Peter Hye
Hans Peter Hye was a research associate in the research unit History of the Habsburg Monarchy.
Brief Biography
Hans Peter Hye was born in Innsbruck in 1955. He completed his school leaving examination in Lienz in 1974 and subsequently military service. He studied technical mathematics at the Technical University in Vienna from 1975 to 1976, then switched to the study of history and political sciences at the University of Vienna. He held various jobs next to his studies, and completed his PhD in 1987. He subsequently took part in post-graduate training and worked for several years as a freelance historian. He was employed at the Austrian Academy of Sciences in 1991, initially at the Commission for the History of the Habsburg Monarchy, then at the Historical Commission, and from 2013 at the Institute of Modern and Contemporary History. He was a member of the works council from 2007 to 2017. Hans Peter Hye conducted extensive research in the framework of the Commissions’ and Institute’s fields of activity.
