Anatol Schmied-Kowarzik is a research associate in the research unit Digital Historiography and Editions. He heads the project ‘The Minutes of the Cisleithanian Council of Ministers 1867−1918’ together with Franz Adlgasser. This is the third series of the edition ‘Minutes of the Council of Ministers of Austria and of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy 1848–1918'.
Anatol Schmied-Kowarzik was born in Hüttental-Weidenau (today a district of the city of Siegen). He studied history and philosophy at the universities of Heidelberg and Vienna, and received his PhD in 2001. Since 2000, he has been employed as a researcher in the framework of the project ‘Minutes of the Council of Ministers of Austria and of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy 1848–1918' initially based at the Austrian East and Southeast Europe Institute and since 2008 at the Austrian Academy of Sciences.
