Mišo Kapetanović is Marie-Skłodowska Curie post-doc researcher in the research unit Balkan Studies.

Brief Biography


Mišo Kapetanović holds a doctoral degree in Balkan studies from the University of Ljubljana, Slovenia (2017). He studied sociology and philosophy at the University of Banja Luka, and global studies and global history at the University of Vienna and the University of Leipzig (Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters Programme 2008-2010). He was a post-doctoral research fellow at the Center for Advanced Studies, the Univerisity of Rijeka (2017-2018), the Institute for Advanced Studies Kőszeg (2019), and The Center for Urban History of East-Central Europe in Lviv (2019). In 2019 he was awarded a GFF-IPF grant at the University of St. Gallen, Switzerland for the project “The Politics of Migration and Identity in an Era of Rising Mobilities – Post-Yugoslav Communities in Switzerland” (2019-2022). From April 2022, Mišo Kapetanović joined the Balkan studies unit of the IHB, where he will be implementing the project “Looking for Historical Queerness in the Slavic-Speaking Dinaric Mountains – DINARKVIR,” supported by Marie-Skłodowska Curie Actions, Horizon Europe.
