Kurzbiografie

Marco Ferrante (geb. 1980) studierte Sanskrit und klassische indische Philosophie an der Sapienza-Universität in Rom. In seiner wissenschaftlichen Arbeit befasst er sich hauptsächlich mit brahmanisch-philosophischen Texten – insbesondere von Bhartṛhari  (5. Jh.) und nicht-dualistischen Traditionen (Pratyabhijñā und Advaita Vedānta) – wobei der Schwerpunkt auf Erkenntnistheorie, Metaphysik, Linguistik und Philosophie des Geistes liegt.

Ferrante ist seit 2013 Mitglied des IKGA und nimmt am Projekt "Sprache und Handlung in der frühen brahmanischen Philosophie" teil, das von Vincent Eltschinger geleitet und vom österreichischen Wissenschaftsfonds (FWF) finanziert wird.

Zwischen 2015 und 2018 arbeitete er im Rahmen eines weiteren vom FWF geförderten Projekts, "A Śaiva interpretation of the Buddhist theory of exclusion (apoha)", unter der Leitung von Marion Rastelli.

Zwischen 2018 und 2020 war Ferrante Berggruen-Stipendiat für Vergleichende Philosophie an der Universität Oxford.

Im Jahr 2020 trat Ferrante dem Projekt "Deontische Logik" bei, das von Agata Ciabattoni und Elisa Freschi geleitet und vom WWTF finanziert wird.

Derzeit leitet Ferrante das FWF-Projekt "Universalien in der indischen Sprachphilosophie" (2021–2024).
