A wide range of specimen, may it be produced at the institute itself or from external sources, is passing the metallographic preparation to fit the requirements of highly advanced analysis.

Metallography at ESI is also used as a chemical laboratory. Chemical treatments and experiments, like electropolishing, etching, electroplating, electroless plating, hydrogen loading tests and electrochemical measurements are carried out here.
