The TA Instruments Discovery Hybrid Rheometer 3 (DHR3) is a high resolution torsional rheometer designed to measure viscosity, shear stress, storage and loss modulus, strain and creep properties as a function of frequency, time, temperature and shear rate on solid or viscous samples. The instrument is equipped with plate-plate geometries for liquid and solid samples. Solid samples can be measured in tensile, torsion, three point bending, single and dual cantilever and thin film geometries. It has very high resolution in normal and torsional force and displacement measurements. Samples can be heated between -150°C and 600°C under a protective nitrogen atmosphere. Typical measurements include the determination of the glass transition in metallic glasses, the quantification of damping properties and the kinetics of phase transitions.
