Academic Background
Roman Fleischmann graduated with honors from the University of Vienna with a Master's degree in Psychology (focus: Mind and Brain). For his masters thesis "Neural signatures of Bayesian perceptual adaptation during auditory motion discrimination" he investigated belief updating and its neural correlates during directional hearing. Furthermore, Roman is studying transdisciplinary arts at the University of Applied Arts Vienna, focusing on sound installations.
Current Research
In the past, Roman has worked first as an intern, then as a student employee at ARI in the Dynamates project, investigating directional hearing and neural correlates of Bayesian perception. Currently he is investigating belief updating in the context of pupil-linked arousal in spatial and temporal hearing, working with EEG and pupillometry. Furthermore he is developing a PhD project to investigate auditory beliefs and predictions in the context of aging and arousal.
