Academic Background
Jinook Oh studied biology in Andong National University in South Korea. After completing BSc in 2011, he moved to Vienna, Austria to join Cognitive Biology department in University of Vienna with his prior work experience as a computer programmer. He worked as an experimental software/hardware developer in the department, while he completed both MSc. in cognitive science (2013) and PhD in biology (2018), focusing on partial automation of behavioural experiments using open-source tools. In 2019, he worked on short projects of animal behavioural experiments in University of Vienna and University of Veterinary Medicine Vienna. In 2020, he joined Cremer group, Institute of Science and Technology Austria to study behaviour of black garden ants and develop data analysis software. He worked in ISTA until he joined Biology cluster in Acoustics Research Institute in 2024.
Current Research
Jinook Oh is currently working on the data acquisition and initial data processing in the project, ANIML: Analysis of Non-human Intercommunication with Machine Learning. He is building a setup for recording and tracking multiple budgerigars in an aviary.
