The New Frontiers programmes of the Austrian Academy of Sciences (OeAW) offer outstanding scientists from Austria and abroad the opportunity to conduct independent research on a subject of their choice and to use the grant funds at their own discretion. The programmes are also aimed at improving research infrastructures at the OeAW institutes. To reach these goals, OeAW published two calls each for both the establishment of New Frontiers groups and for the establishment of cutting edge research infrastructure. The programmes are supported by the Federal Ministry of Science, Research and Economy and financed by the National Foundation for Research, Technology and Development.
