Agnes Kim


… works as lexicographer for the Dictionary of Bavarian Dialects in Austria (‘Wörterbuch der bairischen Mundarten in Österreich’, WBÖ) within the research unit Linguistics. As a team member of the SFB “German in Austria” (Project Part 06 “German and the Slavic languages in Austria: Aspects of language contact”), she is additionally involved in the project Aspects of (Multi-)Lingualism in Austria: Competence – Usage – Attitudes (‘Aspekte der (Mehr-)Sprachigkeit in Österreich: Kompetenz – Gebrauch – Einstellungen’).

She studied Slavonic Studies (Czech) and German Studies at the University of Vienna with a focus on linguistics in both subjects and received her doctoral degree in Slavonic Studies in 2022. Her dissertation dealt with the representation of the ‘Slavic’ in dictionaries of ‘Viennese’. It was thematically embedded into her project work within the SFB “German in Austria”, which she has been involved in since 2016. Besides her research, she teaches at the University of Vienna.

Her research interests include (the history of) Slavic-German multilingualism and language contact in Austria, contrastive Slavic and German linguistics, corpus linguistics, and digital (meta-)lexicography.
