Online symposium of the #ELFinTIGs project

English as a lingua franca and transient contexts: Research perspectives for applied linguistics (21-22 April 2022)

This two-day online event brings together experts on English as a lingua franca (ELF), inter-/transcultural communication, sociolinguistics and multilingualism to explore research perspectives that the theoretical and empirical engagement with communication in transient contexts has for applied linguistics. The aim of the symposium is to critically reflect on current concepts, methods and research practices in (applied) linguistics and to identify future perspectives for applied linguistic research that emerge in light of the lingua-cultural diversity and fleetingness of many international, local and virtual communicative settings.
