Abstract

In mediatized, fragmented and disruptive societies, normative evaluations of media production, distribution and reception are becoming more and more important. In Austria, however, institutionalized expertise for media ethical problems is still a desideratum. The project pursues the aim to evaluate research gaps in the field of ethics in mediatized worlds - and to prepare the foundation of an Interdisciplinary Media Ethics Center (IMEC) that can provide analyses in this field on a scientific basis, including knowledge from philosophy, communication science, economics, political science, law, sociology and similar disciplines.
