Biography

Mag. Dr. Ursula Reeger has been working as a researcher at the ISR since 1989. She studied Geography (specialization: Spatial Research and Spatial Planning) at the University of Vienna and obtained her doctorate in 1999. For a long time, her research interests focused on international migration (European East-West migration, immigration from within and outside the EU, and refugees) and its impacts on the labor and housing markets in Austria, particularly in Vienna. Subsequently, she worked on topics related to integration and urban diversity, especially on coexistence at the local level, attitudes toward migration and integration in diverse urban societies, and the governance of integration.

In recent years, she has particularly focused on questions surrounding the negotiation of belonging and extreme narratives in public spaces (both online and offline). She has published extensively on these topics in numerous books and academic journals. Due to her long-standing participation in large-scale international research projects (e.g., Respond, Volpower, D.Rad, OppAttune), she is well-integrated into the European scientific community.
