Short Biography

As an interdisciplinary urban researcher, Philipp Schnell has explored the topics of spatial theory, the life worlds of homeless people in urban spaces, and art-based methods of urban and spatial research after completing his PhD at the Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration on spatial theoretical foundations of organizational research (2017). Since 2022, he has been serving as editor of the UXUC Urban Creativity Journal of the Lisbon Faculty of Fine Arts. He contributes to various publications on topics related to the exploration and mapping of urban spaces through creative and art-based methods. In addition to lectures at the TU Wien, Kunstuniversität Linz as well as UWK Krems, exhibitions, lectures and workshops on topics such as research design, research methods and urban spatial research complete his research profile.

Currently, Philipp Schnell is working for the ISR at the ÖAW within the research project Feasibility study: Database on homelessness, housing exclusion, and precarious housing situations
