Biography


Michael Kloiber is a student assistant at the Institute for Urban and Regional Research since March 2023, supporting the international, trans- and interdisciplinary research project AccessCity4All. His academic background includes Geography, History and Spatial Research and Spatial Planning. He is currently completing his Master's degree in Spatial Research and Spatial Planning with a thesis analysing the 15-minute city concept in the Seestadt Aspern.

From September 2022 to September 2024, he worked as a tutor and student assistant at the Institute for Geography and Regional Research at the University of Vienna. In this role, he assisted in courses on social sciences, human geography and spatial research.

His research focuses on the historical development of cities and their surroundings and the sustainable transformation of urban spaces. He analyses these processes through urban planning and historical theories, with particular emphasis on the interdisciplinary connection between the temporal and spatial dimension and the individual needs of people. He is currently analysing the potential and challenges of implementing the 15-minute city concept in Vienna, especially in peripheral urban areas.
