Martin Löschnigg studied English and German literature and linguistics at the Universities of Graz (Austria) and Aberdeen (UK). He holds a Ph. D. from Graz University (1993), where he is now Professor of English, Chair of the Section on the New English Literatures and Deputy Director of the Centre for Canadian Studies. He was a visiting scholar at the Freie Universität Berlin and at Harvard University in 1995/96, and a Visiting Associate Professor of English at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis in autumn 2005. From 2007-10 he was Director of English and American Studies at the University of Graz.
His main research interests include narrative theory, autobiography, the English novel, the literature of war, and Canadian Literature.
Martin Löschnigg is the author of more than 50 articles in journals and book chapters on the literature of World War I, on English fictional autobiography, on narrative theory, on Canadian literature and on the English novel. He has also published some 50 reviews and entries in encyclopedias.
