In 3-minute lightning talks, all participants presented their current research agenda, plans and what interdisciplinary research means in their field. This was followed by an invited talk by Julia Partheymüller (University of Vienna and NUWiss) about a recent survey of working conditions of mid-level academic staff at the University of Vienna. Following this keynote, we discussed strategies for improving conditions for Early Career Researchers in Austria. The second strategy discussion focused on assaults on science and how individuals and institutions could respond and raise awareness. The final strategy discussion, was used to evaluate and expand current formats and channels, to examine the role of the Young Academy within and beyond the Austrian Academy of Sciences, and to further establish lasting structures.

The results will inform working groups outlining positions and strategies for engaging policymakers and other key stakeholders.
