A series of public talks aimed at a broader public as well as at school pupils seeks to foster enthusiasm for research in the natural sciences and to raise awareness of the current challenges facing society. Renowned guest lecturers give their talk twice: in the evening for a big audience at the OeAW-Festive Hall and the day after in a Viennese school for pupils aged 16 to 18. The young audience gets the opportunity to discuss the talk with the presenters, gaining first-hand access to internationally renowned experts and their work.

The lecture series are staged by the OeAW and the Federation of Austrian Industries as part of a long-term cooperation between the Academy and the Vienna School City Council.

Cooperation between the OeAW and the NÖ Forschungs-und Bildungsges.m.b.H. (NFB) also gives pupils from Lower Austria the opportunity to attend the talks.
