Hannes Pichler, Professor of Theoretical Physics at the University of Innsbruck and Scientific Director at the Institute of Quantum Optics and Quantum Information Innsbruck of the Austrian Academy of Sciences (OeAW), has been awarded the prestigious Antonio Feltrinelli Giovani Prize in Physics. The prize, granted by the Italian Academy of Sciences and endowed with 50,000 euros, is considered the "Nobel Prize of Italy." Pichler was honored for his groundbreaking contributions to theoretical physics at the intersection of quantum optics, quantum information, and many-body physics.

Anne Sophie Meincke, currently Elise Richter research project leader at the University of Vienna, has been awarded the highly competitive ASTRA Research Prize from the Austrian Science Fund (FWF), worth around €1 million. In her research project “Processual Feminism: Bringing Together Process Metaphysics and Feminist Philosophy”, to be carried out at the University of Klagenfurt, she will develop a processual feminist metaphysics that offers new answers to key questions in feminist philosophy, particularly concerning sex and gender, reproduction and corporeality, and ecofeminism. Anaïs Angelo is a Senior Post-Doctoral Researcher at the Institute for Cultural Studies of the Austrian Academy of Sciences and leads an Elise Richter research project. Her project "Defining Decolonisation" was awarded the Merit Award of the Austrian Science Fund (FWF). In this project, Angelo examines how and why decolonization in Africa was conceptualized and politicized in postcolonial European countries. Tracing the concept across time (from the 1960s to the present) and space (within and beyond Europe), it offers the first comprehensive history of decolonization as a postcolonial European idea. It thus opens up a new field of inquiry and will provide insights relevant to scholars and policymakers alike.
