Short bio
Kurt Tropper studied Latin and Physical Education at the Ruprecht-Karls-University in Heidelberg from 1981 to 1987 and completed his studies with the first state examination for the teaching profession at secondary schools (M.A. equivalent). After travelling around the world for several years, he enrolled in M.A. and Ph.D. programs in Tibetan and Buddhist Studies at the University of Vienna (Ph.D. conferred in 2001). He joined the Institute in 2013 as the principal researcher in the projects “Historical and religious inscriptions in mNga’ ris (Western Tibet, PR China)” and “The Jātaka inscriptions at Zha lu Monastery”, both financed by the Austrian Science Fund.
