
Short Biography
Dávid Sümeghy is a human geographer. He completed his studies at the University of Pécs in Hungary and defended his doctoral dissertation at the Doctoral School of Earth Sciences in Pécs in 2021. After obtaining his doctoral degree, he worked at Lund University, where he examined the policing of immigrants in public spaces. Since 2023, he has been a postdoctoral researcher at the Austrian Academy of Sciences, Institute for Urban and Regional Research. In his main research project, he investigated the reciprocal causal relationship between migration and subjective well-being in the context of Hungary and Austria. He is currently involved in projects dealing with the spatial expansion of Airbnb, tourism gentrification, and vacant single-family houses. His research interests include the spatial dimensions of migration and social cohesion, policing, electoral geography, urban segregation, and regional inequalities.
