Kurzbiographie

Dávid Sümeghy ist Humangeograph. Er absolvierte sein Studium an der Universität Pécs in Ungarn und verteidigte 2021 seine Dissertation an der Doktorandenschule für Geowissenschaften in Pécs. Nach dem Erwerb seines Doktorgrades arbeitete er an der Universität Lund, wo er die polizeiliche Kontrolle von Immigrantinnen und Immigranten im öffentlichen Raum untersuchte. Seit 2023 ist er Postdoktorand an der Österreichischen Akademie der Wissenschaften, Institut für Stadt- und Regionalforschung. In seinem zentralen Forschungsprojekt untersuchte er den wechselseitigen kausalen Zusammenhang zwischen Migration und subjektivem Wohlbefinden im Kontext von Ungarn und Österreich. Derzeit ist er an Projekten beteiligt, die sich mit der räumlichen Ausbreitung von Airbnb, touristischer Gentrifizierung und leerstehenden Einfamilienhäusern befassen. Zu seinen Forschungsinteressen zählen die räumlichen Dimensionen von Migration und sozialem Zusammenhalt, Policing, Wahlgeographie, urbane Segregation und regionale Ungleichheiten.
