Short Biography

After completing his PhD on the topic of spatial theory in the context of organisation studies at the Vienna University of Economics and Business in 2017, Philipp specialised in spatial theory and applied spatial research methods, lifeworlds of people experiencing homelessness, and arts-based methods of urban and spatial research. Currently, he is co-editor of UXUC User Experience and Urban Creativity Journal (since 2022) and editor of the International Journal on Homelessness (since 2025). His current research focuses on homelessness and housing insecurity, as well as on creative and arts-based research methods. He has presented his research at international conferences and at specialised lectures at Technical University of Vienna, University of Art and Design Linz, Kuwait School of Architecture and Lisbon Faculty of Fine Arts. Additionally, he is organising workshops and webinars on topics such as research design, creative research methods, and emergent perspectives in urban research.

Currently, Philipp is a research partner in the project Upstream Austria —Early Prevention of Hidden Homelessness Among Austrian Pupils. Most recently, he collaborated with Judith Schnelzer on the project Pathways of Homelessness in Vienna and coordinated homelessness counts in Salzburg and Innsbruck as part of the EU-wide project EU Homelessness Counts.
