Biography

Johannes Richter previously finished a degree in aerospace engineering in Stuttgart before switching to geography at the University of Vienna. Here he found his fascination for urban geography and regional development. He is now in the finals stages of his geography master Spatial Research and Spatial Planning. Since 2024, he has also been working as a research assistant and, more recently, as a tutor at the Institute for Geography and Regional Research in the Urban Studies working group.

Since May 2026, he is part of the Institut for Urban and Regional Research and works in the AG Sustainable Urban Regions on the AccessCity4All research project. His range of interest is diverse and includes mobility planning, housing markets and their interplay with local urban amenities and economies in context of sustainable urban transformations. The concept of the 15-minute city, which is the focus of the research project, enables these themes to be thought together in diverse contexts.
