Matej Ďurčo leitet die Einheit Digital Humanities Forschung & Infrastruktur des ACDH.

Seit 2002, noch während seines Informatikstudiums an der Technischen Universität Wien, arbeitete er an der Österreichischen Akademie der Wissenschaften an der Entwicklung von korpuslinguistischen und texttechnologischen Anwendungen. Seit 2009 beteiligte er sich am Aufbau der österreichischen Forschungsinfrastrukturen für digitale Geisteswissenschaften, sowie der paneuropäischen Forschungsinfrastrukturen CLARIN und DARIAH, sowohl auf österreichischer als auch auf europäischer Ebene. Seit 2014 war er eine der Schlüsselfiguren bei der Gründung und dem Aufbau des Instituts.

Von Anfang war er verantwortlich für die Infrastruktur-Agenda des Instituts und koordinierte die Entwicklung und Bereitstellung von Anwendungen für die zahlreichen Projekte des Instituts und seiner Kooperationspartner. Neben dem Aufbau technischer Infrastrukturen ist sein Hauptanliegen der soziale Aspekt, der Austausch von Wissen und die Rolle als Dolmetscher zwischen geisteswissenschaftlicher Forschung und der technischen Welt, um gegenseitiges Verständnis zu gewährleisten und optimale Lösungen für die spezifischen Bedürfnisse der Forschenden zu finden.

Seit November 2022 ist er auch als Chief Technology Officer (CTO) des europäischen Forschungsinfrastrukturkonsortiums DARIAH tätig.
