Virtual Symposium

We were hoping to be able to welcome everybody in person in Vienna for the 2021 symposium. However, given the uncertain coronavirus situation, we have decided to host the SY-Stem Symposium online.

Talk Sessions

All session talks will be live followed by a live Q&A session. Please note that talks will not be recorded so make sure to join the talk on time!

Meet the speaker

Each speaker will be available during the networking break (on the day of her or his talk) for further discussion. You will be able to talk to them in small groups and face to face via video chat in the networking space.

Become part of the symposium:

Speaker from abstract

As every year we give all PhD students, postdocs and PIs the possibility to present their work with a live talk during the symposium. To apply for a talk from abstract register online and submit your abstract by January 25th.

Poster sessions

We will be hosting three virtual poster sessions. Poster abstracts will be available in advance. Presenters will be assigned one of the three days and they will then virtually display their poster during one of the networking sessions. Attendees will be able to join their session to see and discuss the poster via video chat. Make sure to register here and submit your abstract by February 17th .

Further details will follow closer to the symposium.

About

SY-Stem - a symposium focusing on the next generation of stem cell researchers – is an annual meeting, located in the beautiful city of Vienna. It is organized jointly by the Research Institute of Molecular Pathology (IMP) and Institute of Molecular Biotechnology (IMBA).

In this two-and-a-half-day event, recognized keynote speakers, as well as aspiring young group leaders will discuss the latest advances in stem cell biology in an informal and collaborative setting. Our goal is to strengthen a cooperative and dynamic spirit in this research area.

For 2021 we will recreate the 2020 sessions and include the following topics:

Pluripotency, early development & gastrulation

Organogenesis

Disease

Clinics

We especially invite young scientists to participate in this symposium, to connect with and shape the future of the stem cell community in Europe.
