Richard Lein was born in Vienna in 1980. He studied history and political sciences at the University of Vienna where he received his PhD in 2009. From 2006 to 2011, he was employed as a pre-doc university assistant at the Institute of East European History at the University of Vienna. Between 2011 and 2018, he had the post of post-doc university assistant at the Faculty of Central European Studies at the Andrássy University in Budapest. From 2014 to 2018, he was employed as a post-doc university assistant at the Institute of History at the University of Graz, 2018-2022 at the IHB.
