Glacier monitoring on Hallstatt Glacier in the Dachstein conservation area means creating the summer and winter mass balances using the direct (glaciological) method (Hoinkes 1970) with the Fixed Date System.

In addition to capturing the mass balance, several climate parameters, such as air temperature and precipitation, will be measured on Hallstatt Glacier.
