Long Term Ecological Research (LTER) at the IGF

LTER sites are physical locations where researchers from different disciplines work on research questions over a longer period of time. At each LTER site, ecological phenomena and processes are studied using long time series to gain a better understanding of the processes and new insights. Further general information is provided by LTER-Austria and LTER-Europe .

The IGF operates LTER sites in Austria in the following mountain ecosystems:

Jamtalferner
Hochschwab (AT-HSW) GLORIA – Austria (together with the BOKU)
Kesselwandferner / Gepatschferner
GLORIA Master Site Schrankogel (AT-SCH), Stubaier Alpen – Austria (together with the BOKU)

In addition, we are part of the research teams at the following sites:

Stubacher Sonnblickkees – Austria
Obergurgl – Austria
