DIAMONT, in close coordination with the Permanent Secretariat of the Alpine Convention, developed the basic concept of a pan-Alpine monitoring and information system (ABIS) and suitable indicators for sustainable regional development. What was new in this endeavour was the bottom-up approach and the methodology that is expected to provide inputs for the existing work on ABIS. Within the reporting period, four work packages were completed (indicators, database, regionalization, test regions). Axel Borsdorf coordinated the project, the IGF supplied staff and research input.
