Summer School: From Stardust to Extrasolar Planets

CELTA-Cortina ASI Summer School No. 14

This summer school (which is the latest in the 'CELTA-Cortina' series of summer schools and Advanced Study Institutes on astrodynamics) aims to bring together scientists who work in exoplanetary and solar system dynamics, to understand the latest tools and methods of analysis necessary for research into exoplanets, solar system bodies and planetary systems.

The core programme will consist of lectures by internationally leading experts, supplemented by workshops and informal discussion sessions. The programme aims to enable the exchange of new ideas across these fields. Connecting research and space exploration of our Solar System with exoplanetary science will provide insight into the formation, evolution and final endpoint of planetary systems, including our own Solar System.

The School will be 12 days: starting with 4 days in residence at Inverness College, Inverness and then moving to Sabhal Mòr Ostaig, The Gaelic College on the Isle of Skye for 8 days. There will be 9 days of study with 2 days dedicated to extra-curricular activities (1 day of which will be tour of the Highlands historic sites en route from Inverness to Skye).

Sabhal Mòr Ostaig, situated on the Island of Skye off the west coast of Scotland, is an ideal venue for the summer school: set amidst breathtaking mountain and coastal scenery, it is a quiet and secluded location. Inverness College gives an excellent start, set in the beautiful Inverness, near the famous Loch Ness and gateway to the Highlands of Scotland. Both colleges have state-of-the-art conference facilities and excellent accommodation.
